i don't know where can i download the denpecies and my repo(core,update core,nonfree,nonfree update,tainted,tainted update)

can anyone tell me how to run steam?

is steam a script

run file steam

if it is the first line may be #!/bin/bash

add a -x to that and save it.

running it again

i see it says which : gnome-terminal

simply put which is a command to find what executable in the path to start and it cant find gnome-terminal.

are you running gnome, or have you installed it.

you sure you have downloaded the appropriate steam for this distribution.

i notice further down that it mentions ubuntu, which is so different to mageia id be surprised if it would run at all, hence my question.

i dont run steam so these are all generic questions/approaches to looking at a problem.

mageia has a package manager, under MCC, and since its rpm based and this package is not it wont automatic install the rpm's , You need to do it yourself, but perhaps there's an RPM version of steam.

that would be where i would look next.

yes there is a steam package from the

spot.fedorapeople.org/steam/

site fedora 18 or 19 are similar to mageia so thats where your best bet lies.

ps i dont run steam never have, there may be advise already available in this forum about how to run it, make sure you search first before posting.

so again this is generic advise.

Install from url or localfile

urpmi can be used to install local rpm's , and then resolve dependencies. For example, you just recompiled or created foo-1.0-1bar.rpm . You can easily use urpmi foo-1.0-1bar.rpm . It even works with http or ftp url (and even with ssh, provided that rsync is installed on both sides). If enabled bash_completion will work very well on such commands.

Steam is in the repos( Non-free I think), That will install all needed dependencies for you. Then run from command line or via the menu.

Yup, was very surprised to see steam in the repos as I was going through trying to get the install-steam script to run also, and I decided just to see if it was available or not, and lo and behold, there it be. Much easier that way.
