Eschalon... game

Postby synthecin » Jun 11th, '13, 19:56

Hi, I have a 2010/11 game called Eschalon book two, according to the instructions I just have to use the file "eschalon_book_2_1.03 (tar)". But when I click on it. I'm asked what do I want to open it with?
And I get no further. Any directions?

The instructions also say it has only been tested in ubunto 10.something.

Nic

edit: there is also a windows version on the disk, When I click on it, the wine glass bounces up and down for a while and then disappears. Again with nothing loading.

So while I would prefer the Linux version to run, I even be glad of the Windows version running with wine.

Thanks

A tar file is a compressed archive. Clicking on it should open up your default uncompress utility. (If you are using KDE it will be Ark for example) Uncompress the archive and then look inside the folder you have uncompressed and you should see some instructions on how to install it.

As for using the Windows version the easiest way is probably to install PlayonLinux (There is a package in the Mageia repository) Play on linux gives you a nice GUI to help you install Windows games using Wine. If it is a supported game it is very easy, but even if it is non supported it is still quite easy.(but may not work)
