ibus in gnome 3

Postby ludotw » Jun 6th, '13, 09:58

Hello

I want to input some traditional mandarin and japanese. I didn't like gnome 3 so switched back to KDE where ibus was immediately and very conveniently available. But KDE simply disappeared (it wouldn't power down my computer, i did a hard turn-off and went back home, today Mageia starts directly in gnome3) and I have troubles re-installing it. KDE is not the topic of this post and I am stuck again with gnome 3.
If in a terminal I type
Code: Select all
ibus-daemon

I am being told that
Code: Select all
current session already has an ibus-daemon.

Good. Then where is it? How to use it, select the languages to add to it? ctrl-space doesn't do anything.

Yes I had, before asking my question. But none tells where the ibus icon is in gnome. And the user in the post viewtopic.php?f=7&t=4952 having troubles with ibus was using kde. I have no problem using ibus with kde.

Hmmm, maybe it's the same as with net_applet, it doesn't integrate in GNOME systray, but can only be accessed via mouseover to the bottom-right corner?

No it wasn't in the tray when hovering the bottom-right corner... I stick to KDE for the moment.
