Cannot connect Android to Mageia

Postby njathan » Apr 9th, '13, 08:46

Hi,

I am not able to connect my android (4.1.1) phone to Mageia.. The following MTP apps/libraries are already installed on my laptop: libmtp-utils, libmtp9, mtpfs.

Can someone help? I am using sshdroid + Filezilla method currently, but it is too slow, and does not work for all the needs and situations (e.g. connect when i'm in office)

Thanks in advance.

What phone is it ? ;)

My HTC works with 4.1

Some manufactures only allow through MTP(Sony is one)

It should however show in Amarok, I know the misses Sony does.

But like lemonzest has said AirDroid is very handy :D

The long and short of it is you need a newer version of libmtp than is in Mageia 2.

Open Suse 12.3 uses libmtp v 1.5 which means with kio-mtp, Dolphin just sees and transfers files between phone and computer. I hope and assume Mageia 3 will do the same.

This is probably a bit "over-the-top" for what you're doing unless you're an Android developer (except that you mention ssh into your phone), but there is a method to connect the Android ADB server whenever you plug-in the phone into USB.

It basically uses USB ID lookups to setup a /dev/XYZ location. At least this way, you can mount it as a drive. See if this makes sense, for what you're doing: http://www.joescat.com/linux/android_rules.html

The answer is no, Mageia 3 does not. We're still stuck in the dark ages on v1.1. Very disappointing indeed. No Android support for Mageia still.
