Any plans for long term support

Hi all. New potential user here. I started with Xandros Linux years ago and moved on to PCLinuxOS. I loved PCLinuxOS and would never have strayed except for one thing. I didn't like the rolling release. I was always updating and never settled into a stable environment. Every update seemed to fix one bug but introduced another. So I swore off rolling releases forever. I just need a stable long term release. So I moved back to a Debian based distro in Mepis Linux. I've been very happy with Mepis, but I always missed the Control Center in PCLinuxOS, which was based on Mandrakes control center. So I decided to take a look at Mageia. I was hoping to find all the goodness of PCLinuxOS but with more stability and longer support. But I see currently the support is set for 18 months total. Since I maintain several computers for myself and for friends that seems like a lot of updating and maintenance work. Are there any plans for extended support? Even if its only security and not programs, at least the system would be secure.

It has been said that a long term support release would be considered if there were enough volunteer contributors, but I don't think that it's likely to happen soon. The present number of contributors is barely sufficient to provide the support that has been promised.

Thanks for the reply. I'll keep Mageia in mind but 18 months seems a little short for my needs. I'd rather see another cycle or two of support to give a total of 27 or 36 months support. Even if it was only security updates.

Feel free to contribute as packager, QA team member testing and validating update candidates to help make that possible.
