Xfce disables touchpad click at startup (mageia 2 x86)[DONE]

Well, first of all hello everybody, although I have been registered for some time this is the first time I need to write. Just as an introduction I would like to say tha I have using mandriva and later mageia as my main OS for the last 7 or 8 years, I have been in another comunity dedicated to mandriva/mageia all this time and though that would be better to ask for help in this one centered only in mageia because sooner or later it will become my only SO, there is still a machine that I need to migrate.

That said my problem is that xfce disables by itself the touchpad click at startup I can enable the option in the configuration dialog but as soon as I close the session and open it again the touchpad click is disabled and the checkbox in the configuration screen is again unmarked.

I have looked at the xorg configuration and the problem is definitely not there, I can use the touchpad click in gdm without any problem. Also i found that the option can be forced using the command "synclient TapButton1=1" running it while on xfce enables the touchpad click, again until I restart de session.

A workaround that I tried is to make an entry in the session and startup dialog to force it to run said command, even I tried to do it trough a small script that created a blank file in my home. Just to be sure that said command was executed at the startup. And still nothing, the script runs because it enables the touchpad click when I execute it manually and I can be sure that it is executed at the startup because the file is generated. Still something happens after running startup programs that disables the touchpad click by itself.

And I ran out of ideas, the ideal solution would be to find why xfce isn't saving the touchpad options but if anyone knows another place to try the "synclient TapButton1=1" command would serve as a solution.

Just a few bits more:
Running mageia 2 i586 (all updates installed)
Hardware: eeepc 1000, the touchpad is recognised as ETPS/2 elantech

Any idea is welcome.

By any chance, don't you have synaptiks daemon running (on boot), which may disable the touchpad?
I do not know how you could check for it via xfce settings, but basically you can see at least if the corresponding package is installed.

Well the package synaptiks wasn't installed. I have installed it and now it appears on the session and startup manager of xfce.

The behaviour is the same doesn't matter if i enable it or not.

I have also tested starting a session with lxde, in this case the touchpad isn't lost it works at gdm and inside the desktop.

And another thing I tried is to create a new user with a clean home and see if touchpad click does work after the startup, it doesn't. Somehow xfce is rewritting the options I force for the touchpad.

Thanks for the suggestion by the way.

I don't thing that problem is with xorg as is suggested on that page, as I explained the touchpad click works in gdm and I can enter in lxde without losing that feature. The problem is specifically with xfce.

Thanks anyway

Not really. I'm going to use gnome-classic for a time, xfce doesn't to work very well with gnome3 components and I think that this drives to other problems I have.

Thanks everybody for the help.
