hello my first forum post bare with me. I've been using linux since red hat 5.2 then when mandriva or mandrake think it was 6.0 if I remember right. that was a fork from red hat 5 those where the good o'l days everybody got mad when red hat went into business now look at them most of the people who are at red hat are kernel development. I not happy with the road that mandriva took they kinda shot them self in the foot I not sure what happen behind closed doors but mandriva 08 2010.1 where really good hands down. On to mageia I tryed out the beta once and liked it. like always it had the easy hard drive partion program in it, all the other distro's need watch this to. mageia kept all the good things about mandriva and I know that going to be here for a while. thank you everybody for all your hard work looks good and runs like a champ.

Hi there,
I think I found my new OS. I am an old Mandrake 6.5 user up until the first release of Mandriva.
At that time I switched to Ubuntu. Now support for Maverick is done, so I'm done with Ubuntu.
Any Linux is better than the alternatives, but I feel home again with Mageia. I cannot wait until 2.0 is out, and I can't wait to contribute to the community in any way.

Thanks

Hi everyone. Old distrohopper here. Trying to find a good alternative to win 7.
I have settled on Magia and Arch(actually the new spin on arch called nosonja)

I'll post my reasons in the other section and I hope to contribute some packages.

I don't have a lot of room to spare on my personal distro list, but I think I am adding Mageia to it.
Currently I am running Bridge/Arch on an external dual-boot with Mageia and I also dabble with Sabayon, Archbang and what ever distro catches my eye(Ihave been keeping an eye on Mageia for awhile now). beta three is solid and my first RPM distro. perfer DEB and Arch/Gentoo derivitives but this distro is pretty cool. If it's as stable as I am (sometimes installing a couple of times a week. I might keep it.

This and puppy are the only distro that my wireless works and gives me a blue light so I am assuming Broadcomwl is installed. chakra used to ship with it but now it doesn't. thanks guys.

I´m a new user to Mageia however I have used Mandriva many of times from 2009 version, 2010 version to latest 2011 which really changed my mind. I have jumped around a bit to Fedora and Mint and openSUSE so I eventually landed on trying Mageia and I absolutely love it. It is Mandriva but improved in so many ways both security and stability wise. Mageia 2 is awesome and beta 3 is very stable. I will be staying with this distro and I hope it continues to be developed in the future. Iḿ using it as a development platform for bash scripting, android/java scripting and will eventually be using the distro for html, css and php programming later on down the track. Keep up the good work and I might eventually join this community as a developer later on if needed.

Hi guys,

I'm using Fedora for a couple years now, formerly Mandrake/Mandriva and Debian. I had a look on Mageia 1 but never get rid of Fedora at all :)

I just wanted to have another distro for my work-pc, the parasite-distro called Ubuntu (and thousands of useless spins) never was an option, so I tried mag2b3-release and was very impressed by it's stability, progressive design and functionally, this really is a beta-release????....the whole package is a large collection of effectiveness.

I guess I'm in love ;)

So, I'm looking forward to the final release of Mageia 2 on May, 15th.

cheers

Looks like I found my new KDE distro. I am an admin by trade, but use almost exclusively CentOS for work. I enjoy customizing KDE with Compiz @home for fun. I have chosen Mageia as my platform for KDE fun. I loath GNOME and always have, so won't be going there.

Hello All!

I am new to Mageia, although I have tried most of the common distros including mandriva and have always found some little something that would make me go back to the dreaded WindBlows 7. I am hoping that Mageia is that magical distro that suits all of my needs. I love what I see so far. It reminds me very much of a cross between PClos and openSUSE, with a sprinkle of Mandriva....

Anyway, nice to be here and hope to meet some of you soon (unless I piss someoen off and get booted...lol).
