[SOLVED] Strange display in KDE

This affects only one program, and that under Wine, so I didn't think it was appropriate for a bug report.

I run a jigsaw program (http://www.lenagames.com/bigjig/) Almost everything works under Wine. In KDE, when I start the program, the "canvas" has a small border on two adjacent sides. Upon opening a jigsaw file, the canvas expands to its full extent and everything is enlarged proportionately. This counts as a change to the file. I can then open the file a second time without saving the changes. They are lost, but the canvas stays full, and everything is the correct size. The pieces seem to recede slightly as they shrink to their original size. If I don't reopen the file, the pieces and their surrounds get a bit bigger every time, until I run out of space. This is with KDE on Mageia 1. I run Xfce as well, and with that desktop, it doesn't happen. I don't have Wine installed under Cauldron, so I can't say about what happens there. It sounds like something I just have to live with. It is getting to be a habit, opening the first jigsaw twice.

I am going to try and replicate the bug to understand it better and hopefully find an answer. However, saying that, the link that you posted leads to a 404 on the server, my guess is that it is a typo.

Please fix that or post underneath and I will get to work.

Here is the link to the BigJig home page: http://www.lenagames.com/bigjig.htm It was the trailing slash that was wrong. The program is shareware, but some sample jigsaws come with it. The one thing that won't work is getting a bigjig file (*.jg?) to a saved file you can solve (*.sv8) I do that under Windows XP, then copy the .sv8 file to my Mandriva installation. Nowadays, Lena concentrates on the Astra series. I emailed her about a possible Windows library, but the compiler she uses is something different, I have forgotten what, and there are no DLLs.

"The one thing that won't work is getting a bigjig file (*.jg?) to a saved file you can solve (*.sv8) I do that under Windows XP," but it may be easier if I give you one.

In the latest updates, this problem has gone away. I messed up my KDE settings and finished up with two panels, one covering the other. After sorting that out, the "bug" is no longer in evidence.
