HP LaserjetPro 1132MFP

Postby smoreau » Apr 12th, '12, 08:46

I am unable to configure an usb HP Laserjetpro 1132 on MGA1. However the printer is correctly detected but the driver is unable to print. I succeeded in printing by using a foo2xqx driver from another printer (1005MFP in this case).
Nevertheless the scanner is not detected and i get the following message :
"Erreur d'ouverture du périphérique `hpaio:/usb/HP_LaserJet_Pofessional_M1132_MFP?serial=000000000QH2222PPR1a':Erreur d'entrée/sortie sur le périphérique."

Apparently there is a proprietary HP driver that I am unable to get even by using hplip (3.11.7)

What to do ?
thanks for your suggestions

Could you please at least give enough information for us to troubleshoot your problem?

How is the printer connected to your PC, how did you set it up, what output do you get if you open a terminal, and as root do
Code: Select all
tailf /var/log/messages

and then plugin your printer and what does /var/log/cups/error_log say and what does your /etc/cups/printers.conf contain when using the hplip driver?

So I will give you some more information.
First, that does not concern my personal machine, but a new installation on a desktop, of a friend of mine which is moving from W7 to Linux. Thus I propose him to install MGA1.
All the installation process worked perfectly.
I had to install its multi function printer which is : HP LaserJet Professional m1132 MFP.
This one is connected through USB to its desktop.
So I did as usual with MCC and System Configprinter to install the machine.
It was easily detected with a URI : hp:/usb/HP_LaserJet_Professional_M1132_MFP?serial=000...
The manufacturer and model was : HP LaserJet Professional m1132 MFP, hpcups 3.11.7, requires proprietary plugin
At this level if you try to print the test page that failed. Same thing for Xsane, the scanner is not detect (see the message in my previous post)
Following HP instruction (see below) you have to download the plugin by using HPLIP.
http://hplipopensource.com/hplip-web/downloads.html
http://hplipopensource.com/hplip-web/mo ... 2_mfp.html
In the HP Device manager, in the Actions menu, you find (provide you have install the 1132 printer) an icon Plugin.
This one will download the binary plugin and install it. At this point the HPLIP (3.11.7) failed.
Then I decided to check the installation on my laptop with MGA2 beta2 (which has the HPLIP 3.12.2). Same result.
In order to go further, always on my laptop i checked the same process with the suse 12.1 distribution.
I followed the same process, system configprinter and then HP Device manager. The printer is also easily detected with the same URI as mentioned above. Then i open the HP Device Manager and checked the pulgin installation.
The message in that case was : plugin success install.
So I tested the print testpage : success
Of course I checked Xsane : success, the scanner is perfectly detected and we were able to scan black and white or color data.
So on Suse 12.1 we can use its multifunction printer.

For that time I modified the MGA1 installation by using a free driver (foo2xqx) as proposed in :
http://www.openprinting.org/printer/HP/ ... _M1132_MFP
Of course in that case the scanner is not detected.

Is this due to a wrong HPLIP rpm or a specific compilation of HPLIP ?
I hope we can solve this problem for MGA2.
Many thanks to all.

For one, i don't understand the error message in your previous post fully as i don't speak french.

For the rest, please show the output of
Code: Select all
rpm -q hplip
on your beta2 installation. There maybe a problem with plugin installation,
as nobody else seems to have tested that yet or at least no problems were reported with that, and the information you provided doesn't help me
enough to figure out what the actual error is. And i've got no HP printer which requires a plugin to test (actually no printer at all).

If I try to translate, that woulb be close to input/output error for the device

For the rest, please show the output of
Code: Select all
rpm -q hplip
on your beta2 installation.

As this not my printer I have no easy access to the concern machine. I really think that MGA1 and MGA2 behave similarly. Both installation process failed when I try to download the plugin

I filled a bug report :
https://bugs.mageia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=5395

is it clear enough ?
Thanks for your interest

Well, you reposted what's in your first post ... It is easily understandable, but not sufficient, as there's no exact error message and there's no information about the versions of the packages you had at that time.

So here is the rpm use on MGA2 :
rpm -q hplip
hplip-3.12.2-3.mga2
For MGA1 :
hplip⁻3.11.7_1.2.mga1
