[SOLVED] Sound always muted at login

Hello folks,

Please can anyone offer a suggestion as to why my sound is always on "mute" when I log in? It's all working, and I can un-mute it OK but I'm not sure why it goes muted every time.

Other accounts on the same system work OK - the sound settings are remembered from one login to the next. I'm not sure why this login is different.

I've checked the Sound section in Mageia Control Center, and tried resetting to the defaults. I've gone through the troubleshooting commands, which yielded the following information that may be useful.

I have had problems with settings of sound today in KDE, too.

First I adjusted desired sound level via Pulse Audio Setting center. Then in my home directory I found directory .kde4/share/config and deleted all of which name started with kmix (caution there is subdirectory session).
After it logout and login back. Sound was OK.

I didn't delete those files, but found in the kwinctrlrc file the lines:

is_muted=true

I just changed this to false, and all's well. Much appreciated!

Done. Didn't realise we ordinary users were allowed to do that.
