3D effects on VMware or Virtualbox

Is working to someone the 3d effects on VMware or Virtualbox?
I'd like to install a mageia cauldron guest with gnome 3.
As far as I know VMware has 3D only for windows guest and Virtualbox is working well in 3D with Fedora and Ubuntu, but not Mageia.

Thanks

AFAIK 2d video acceleration is only for windows guests, but 3d acceleration is for every guest, you can see that in the virtualbox options.
But the driver on the host should be setup correctly and you need to install the guest additions in the guest, IIRC.

Thanks.
Ok I know that I need the guest additions, but in Mageia there is the dkms package for guest (that conflict with the one inside the virtualbox that could be installed manually).
Moreover the version in Mageia 1 is old 4.0.6, 4.1.2 in cauldron.

OK. Where is your problem?
In the guest you can install either the dkms-vboxadditions package or use Virtualbox menu to install Guest Additions,
but then you need to install beforehand a compiler, automake and kernel-devel packages to be able to compile kernel modules.

And what about the version? Remember you always need to install the same version of the guest additions as the host version of Virtualbox.
