[SOLVED] KDE Restart hangs

After a fresh install of Mageia 4, I noticed that the KDE 4.11 menu Actions -> Leave submenu didn't include Restart and Shutdown, so I added those by checking their boxes in the KDE Application Launcher Menu Settings. Doing that caused Restart and Shutdown to appear in *both* the Actions section of the KDE menu and in its Actions -> Leave submenu.

However, after a couple of reboots, Restart and Shutdown no longer appear in the Actions section of the KDE menu, and they are in the Actions -> Leave submenu. In the KDE System Settings application -> System Administration -> Startup and Shutdown -> Session Management settings, "Offer shutdown options" is checked.

However, now Restart doesn't work on the fresh install of Mageia 4. It logs out of the KDE session and displays the last syslog message of the previous startup, but then it hangs. I have to Ctrl-Alt-Delete to get the system to actually reboot.

In another Mageia 4 system that was upgraded from Mageia 3, Restart and Shutdown both work without Ctrl-Alt-Delete.

Is anyone else seeing this KDE problem in a fresh install of Mageia 4?

What media did you use to install Mageia 4, and how do you start your X session?

I used the Mageia 4 boot.iso to install from a copy of the Mageia 4 x86_64 DVD iso unloaded onto a hard disk, and used the Mageia 4 mirror repositories during and following the install. I believe that KDE starts X.

Does Ctrl+Alt+Backspace work at that point (restart X server) ?

Also, does the problem occur with a newly created user?

Ctrl-Alt-Backspace doesn't restart X or do anything else.
Ctrl-Alt-Del shows an empty Mageia 4 desktop for a moment, then reboots.
This is a fresh install of Mageia 4 that formatted /home, so the user is new.

I ran the fresh install again, and that resolved this KDE restart problem.

The difference was that the first time I installed from a hard disk iso image and opted to use the mirrors during the install, whereas the second time I did a straight network install from only the mirror repositories.

I ran the install again and the problem still exists. Is there a fix for this WITHOUT a re-install?

Which install did you run again, and which problem still exists in particular?

I used the Mageia 4 boot.iso (Mageia 4 x86_64 DVD). The problem is that Restart or Shutdown from KDE doesn't work. It logs out of the KDE session and displays the last log message of startup, but then it hangs. I open a shell, login as root, and perform a shutdown.
