[SOLVED] install java help

Hi,
I have java working OK on my laptop but can't seem to get it working on my desktop.
I am using the install java instructions from https://wiki.mageia.org/en/Install_java ... b_browsers and java is installed :

java version "1.7.0_09"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.7.0_09-b05)
Java HotSpot(TM) Server VM (build 23.5-b02, mixed mode)

The link exists in the plugins dir:

cd /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/
[root@localhost plugins]# ls
libnpjp2.so@

But testing if java works @ http://www.java.com/en/download/testjava.jsp says its unable to verify. In Firefox addons there is no mention of the java plugin, so where have I gone wrong?

Update
Using latest java version 10.45.2 I have java plugin now listed in firefox addons, but it isn't working http://www.java.com/en/download/testjava.jsp also says its not enabled.
Any ideas?

in firefox about config, ensure value is set to "true"

What does javascript have to do with enabling java?

Apart from that, this can be configured in firefox settings without having to mess with about:config manually

Not sure why you are asking about a post made a year ago.............
Anyway, all I can tell you is after changing the value to "true" it worked for me.
