USB DVD Not working with system

I have an external USB DVD/CD rewritable drive movdel eSAU208, this is a Lite-On drive.
I can't get it to show up in the MCC but half the time sometimes it will show up sometimes it won't, dmesg shows it somewhat, there are messages about sr but it's deferring the io as offline.
Any ideas to get it working?

As this device is USB powered is it possible that your USB port cannot fully power it?
Does it work as expected with other operating systems?

The drive has a two plug usb cable plus an external power cord, I have no other operating systems to test it with as I'm only running Mageia on my computer.

For what it's worth 2 out of the 3 USB hard drives I've had failed.
The drives were still good but the interface between the drives and the USB cable failed.
After MGA3 upgrade, mystery storage volume persists...

I just updated my MGA2 system to MGA3 qith no major problems. This new /sys/fs/cgroup weirdness in mtab has me concerned.
I'm sure there is some useful purpose for a totally new way to mount just about everything, but the result is that I have a 0 byte removable media displayed in my KDE4 device notifier as an Available Device.
It is somehow linked to fd0, despite the removal of all removable devices from fstab.
Anyone else have this issue? My USB flash drives still mount OK, but my USB external DVDRW no longer works.
I'll just ignore it for now and work around it until the next kernel weirdness rolls around...
Thanks for any insight!

As you can read in my post about the mystery 0 byte removable media showing up after the MGA3 upgrade, I have the same problem.
My USB DVDRW shows up in all the usual places, but will not mount or display the contents of a DVD. Searching the hardware shows the DVD now has two duplicate entries in the control panel hardware thingy.
I'm sure more folks will have this problem as we get more people upgrading to MGA3...

If you have the same problem, no need to open a new thread. Merged them now ...
Anyways, do you maybe have a floppy drive?

Well, yes, understood that already. But do you have a physical floppy drive attached to your box?

I have a floppy drive attached in the usual /dev/fd0 (A: drive in windoze) position, an LS-120 drive which mounts as /dev/sdc connected to the first ATA connector, two SATA HDDs: /dev/sda and /dev/sdb. I also have two optical DVDRW drives: one is SATA on channel 0:0 and the other is ATA connected at /dev/sdd and it mounts as /dev/cdrom.
The mystery device is the controller for the third DVDRW I have attached via USB and it (no longer)mounts as /dev/Sr0. The hardware addresses for the mystery 0 byte volume and the USB DVDRW are the same, so the kernel driver could be looking for a HDD volume and not seeing one because it is a removable device. Who knows?
I have disconnected the USB DVDRW and the mystery device is still there... Weird.
