I recently installed KGpg, I'd used gpg some time ago in my Mandriva days, but seldom used it, and when I came to Mageia, I didn't bother. The first time I ran it, it was OK, with no problems. However, subsequent to this when I run it, the startup icon bounces about for a long time and then vanishes. Seeminly a crash, but ps -x indicates that the kgpg process is running. The other option, from the command line seems to be Ok in that various non functional things, like kgpg --help, or kgpg -v, work ok. It just seems that the graphical aspect is not there. I know that I can use seahorse and have, but I'd like to know why kgpg doen't go.
My usual gambit in these things, is to uninstall and start again from scratch, but in this case, although only kgpg and kgpg-handbook were installed, the uninstall gave a list of 43 files that would be uninstalled because of "dependancies". I've been through this before. I once ignored the contents of the list and found to my horror that practically all the useful applications on the machine had been removed, and many more didn't work because they, in turn , were dependant on stuff that had been removed. There was so little of the machine remaining, that I reformatted the whole of the OS partition and installed the whole thing from scratch. It took me about two days to get back where I'd started, what with install and update.
Any ideas?
