Trying to compile Avant Window Navigator

Postby pito » Jun 4th, '11, 17:47

First Mageia is great, thank you for your work.
I need help with this, did not find Avant Window Navigator in repos so i tried to compile it and after the command ./configure it gives this error:

Could not link test program to Python. Maybe the main Python library has been
installed in some non-standard library path. If so, pass it to configure,
via the LDFLAGS environment variable.
Example: ./configure LDFLAGS="-L/usr/non-standard-path/python/lib"
============================================================================
ERROR!
You probably have to install the development version of the Python package
for your distribution. The exact name of this package varies among them.

am i missing some libs or what? Please help, thanks

I'm having the same issues when trying to compile AWN (my favourite dock). Even tried with the rpm package for Mandriva from rpmfind (ftp://195.220.108.108/linux/Mandriva/of ... 1.i586.rpm) but still says that libpython-2.7 dependency is not met, although urpmi says it is installed, so it must be some non-standard install path indeed.

To be honest, I'm not a command-line expert nor do I know too much about default package installation paths, but I'm not afraid of the CLI at all so any viable solution at all would be much appreciated.

Since this is my first post on this forum I'd also like to bore you with a warm Thank You for all the contributors did for Mageia to happen.
