hi<
Try Configure authentication for Mageia tools. In the Mageia control center. There is option for setting the passwords.

cheers

This is probably a problem with consolehelper-gtk the small program which is used by MCC where you enter your root password. All those are contained in usermode-consoleonly and usermode packages.

@nigelc: I just opened Configure authentification for Mageia tools and set no password for mageia update and will wait if pop up windows will stop to appear.
@doktor: when I start consolehelper-gtk it gives me: Fail to find selected program, but:
# which consolehelper-gtk
/usr/bin/consolehelper-gtk
# file /usr/bin/consolehelper-gtk
/usr/bin/consolehelper-gtk: ELF 32-bit LSB executable, Intel 80386, version 1 (SYSV), dynamically linked (uses shared libs), for GNU/Linux 2.6.33, BuildID[sha1]=0x31e5253273c90208e09c1b3cf275a92a9c078364, stripped

can you advice, how can I fix it? I tried Configure authentication for Mageia tools, many combinations, but did not help. It must be something different.
I still got the pop ups windows with that message, always and always.

-after 1st pop up appear my Mageia Control Center stops to work, I got message: application finished abnormally and only restart help till the first pop up.

Hi,
You try and go into single user mode, and see if the password works. Try adding a new user with a different password.
If that all fails re-install the system.

I saw this in one of the Alpha or Beta releases of Mageia2 and it was fixed with updates.
So the question is what did you install and have you updated?
