[SOLVED] Unable to add media - error: unable to open RPMDB

Postby macxi » Aug 12th, '12, 08:07

Hi,

Today I tried to access the Software Manager (in Mageia 2) and gave the warning:

A fatal error occurred: Couddn't open RPM DB... (see image below)

I removed the media and tried to reinstall, and came to the notice:

"Unable to add media, errors reported: unable to open rpmdb"
and appeared the same error warning window (see image below).

I did the same test in another installation of Mageia 2, on another partition and did not give any error.

Does anyone have any idea what could be wrong?

Isadora,

Thank you for responding so quickly

I did as recommended by obgr_seneca and the problem was corrected.

Code: Select all
su -

Code: Select all
rm -f /var/lib/rpm/__db*

Code: Select all
 rpm --rebuilddb

I reinstalled the media. Now the MCC and Software Manager are working ok.

Thank you :)
