LibreOffice 3.5.x Calc has a nasty little bug in it

Postby wilcal » Jun 26th, '12, 07:44

May as well post it here. Over the weekend I stumbled
across a rather nasty little bug in LibreOffice Calc
ver 3.5.x. Best read the details here:

https://bugs.mageia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=6549

This concerns linking arrays and cells from one
spreadsheet to another. It only effects xls files
but unfortunately ole xls files are kinda the
standard in business. ods files are fine.

The problem is not with Mageia but with freedesktop,
the LibreOffice Community. It's already been reported
here:

https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=48463

and here:

https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=50799

The bug appears to exist in all Distros using
LibreOffice ver 3.5.x. I've tested Linux Mint 13
and it exists there too.

We can only hope for a quick fix to this. Mageia 1
using 3.3.x does not exhibit this problem.

Thanks a lot, wilcal, for mentioning this here and for giving all the relevant links :D

To anyone reading this who doesn't know our Bugzilla well and wants to check which bugs involving libreoffice calc we know of:

Go to https://bugs.mageia.org/ and type the name of the package (lower-case!) in the search field. Typing
Code: Select all
libreoffice calc
in that field, gives 5 bugs atm, including the one wilcal mentioned.

If you put "ALL" (upper case!) at the beginning of the search field
Code: Select all
ALL libreoffice calc
you'll also see the bugs that are already fixed or closed for another reason.
