E17-problems

Hi!
I installed newest mageia2 last weekend from kde-live-cd and added e17-desktop from the repo
Then I logged-in in e17, very nice, mostly as I know it from bodh-linux.
I tried to change the theme, and mess started after
I choose a simpe black/white theme; after loading it I could not handle the desktop anymore, some simple menus open like elementary/accessoires, but no way to manipulate them. The mouse-pointer appears as an converted L and inside the menus does not have any effect, like apply something from the menus and under-menus
The worst: I deactivated - like usually - while installing mageia the autologin, so I should been asked fur user/password and session, when loggin in.
This does not happen, mageia starts right through to the broken e17-desktop and I am in the trap again, no way to start with kde, even in failsafe-modus, and get rid of the e17-stuff and install it once more.
Could be with help from the original live-cd, removing e17?
Or should it be a new installation (no sensible datas on this partition)?
Thanks for any tips and tricks

By the way, I love e17, great work, that agust gives to mageia, supporting another distribution aside from bodhi-linux.

Was that a fresh installation, or did you keep a /home from previous installation maybe?

Uuuh, more problems...

Firstly, I now started mageia in failsafe-modus, typing startx opens kde-desktop.
Changing some stuff in the login-area, strangefully was marked "autologin"
Then openend there mageiaControlCenter, searching/installing software.
Graphical Environments > showed nothing
MetaPackages > showed nothing
typing in the find-section e17 gives
> task-e17 - metapackage for e17
> task-e17 - metapackage_minimal for e 17
The changebox is empty, so I click on install, thinking e17 maybe has been purged???
I click on > apply
Installation in 5 seconds done, so no download
Logged out, e17 starts with this useless desktop.
reboot with failsafe, > init 5 gives e17-useless-desktop
reboot with failsafe, > startx gives kde
what works well at all...

You have a home directory now ...

While in KDE, delete Enlightenment's settings folder. Not certain what the login issue is, I'd have to guess you disabled kdm (KDE's login manager) and may need to reinstall that, but I'm lost beyond that.

Actually, startx shouldn't be used anymore, either use
Code: Select all
service dm start
or
Code: Select all
init 5

Also, what exactly do you mean by useless desktop?

Also, please show your /etc/sysconfig/desktop and the output of
Code: Select all
rpm -qa | grep e17
and
Code: Select all
rpm -q e
