Urpmi to dnf on upgrade

Postby stevet1 » Sep 14th, '23, 12:55

Hi,
I am about to upgrade from Mageia 8 to Mageia 9 and would also like to change from urpmi to dnf for package handling.
Can this be done as part of the upgrade process, or can it only be done on a fresh install due to the problems that can be caused by orphaned packages not being compatible between urpmi and dnf ?

I think you should change before upgrading, and check DNF operates correctly.

Then follow https://wiki.mageia.org/en/Mageia_9_Rel ... _.28CLI.29

There are no problems because of that. dnf simply doesn't do such explicit orphan handling at all, which is not an issue by itself.
