Hi,
I installed the Waydroid package from the "Backport Testing" repo on Mageia 8, installation went fine but when I try to run "waydroid init" from a terminal as root I get the following error:

Code: Select all
Failed to load binder driver
modprobe: FATAL:  Module binder_linux not found in directory /lib/modules/5.18.7-desktop-1.mga8
ERROR: Binder node "binder" for waydroid not found

How do I get Waydroid working?

Backports and especially testing medias are intended for experinced users who have no problems in troubleshooting and creating precise bugreports if needed. It is mentioned in the waydroid documentation that kernel modules are required that are normally not included in standard kernels (modules binder and ashmem).
https://docs.waydro.id/usage/install-on-desktops

And if you have a look at our bugzilla (which should be a requirement for testing media users) you will find the relevant bugreport for this problem with needed steps: https://bugs.mageia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=29611
You should append the bugreport that binder is no longer building.

I have been using Linux since 1995, not sure if that qualifies in your eyes.

Thanks, this is the link I needed (comment 6 in particular), all your other head-teacher comments weren't really necessary and don't contribute to making this forum welcoming.

Let's just try to get along. sturmvogel is a very experienced user. And actually, everything he said is correct. Maybe he did not say it with flowers and poetry, but it is relevant and he did point you in the right direction. ;)
