Remaster Mageia / Creating a LiveCD

Postby brampieke » Nov 17th, '11, 17:02

Hello,

I really like using Mageia and I would like to remaster it.
At first I made an LXDE version from Mageia 1 (KDE), now I would like to create a live cd (.iso) from it.
I've searched some information about Draklive and Mklivecd, but without success so far.
I was wondering that you could help me with completing the remaster of my version of Mageia.

Thanks!

Do you want to modify existing installation media or do you want to create on from scratch?
For the latter, there is draklive, but it's not really user-friendly and for good results you need a local mirror.
For the first, there is no tool for that purpose, you can only do it like this: http://www.mandrivauser.de/doku/doku.ph ... madeiso_en
Cauldron is not for the faint of heart!
Caution: Hot, bubbling magic inside. May explode or cook your kittens!

The above cited wiki page has been translated in our wiki :
https://wiki.mageia.org/en/Remaster_Mag ... lfmade_ISO
Thus, I tried it to do, as brampieke wants, a LXDE ISO.
Some tricks are not adapted in the howto:
- compression should be XZ instead of lzma. Napcok suggested this command :
Code: Select all
mksquashfs * distrib-lzma.sqfs -comp xz -noappend -no-progress -info -b 1048576

- files with the network stuff are specific to a Wifi connection.
- I have some problem with the image I got
There is no choice for the language, and it is set to english, alltough I want French. The same for the keyboard.
The system is by default to IceWM.
Can someone helps for that ?

If it works, update it in the wiki - that's what a wiki is for.

Then additionally remove the files you want cleaned up, probably /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0

Which image did you use as basis? What's your exact problem changing language to french and keyboard layout to french?
What's the problem adding another DM as default?

Wiki updated.
Yet my problem is that I get a black screen after the first bubble in the cauldron :/
I started from DVD KDE i586 in Mageia 3.
I installed also task-lxde.
