Have you tried physically relocating your wifi access point, or setting the laptop right next to the access point? What is the signal strength? What is the environment surrounding the access point? (high power lines, metal building frames, other radios or electronics, etc).

What is the power to the access point like? Three-wire, properly grounded? 2 wire? using a UPS?

If your problem was with the software, one would expect it to be widely reported. The reality is that wifi setups can be fragile, and some wifi radios are less than optimal, or are living in environments that are suboptimal and they cannot tolerate it.

Do other devices, or devices using other operating systems, have reliable connections to this particular wifi?

The signal level is said to be greater than 50% (net_applet) most of the time. It increases if I get closer to the router. Yes, some devices closer to the router have more stable wifi connections. Maybe I should buy a wifi repeater...

Tried updating firmware, didn't help also.

Thanks
