[SOLVED] Could not initialize KVM

When trying to install a new Windows image under qemu (using just qemu of qemu-system-x86_64), I get

"Could not initialize KVM, will disable KVM support"

The installation proceeds OK, but I know from previous experience (on Mandriva) that using KVM boosts WinXP speed quite noticeably. I thought KVM support was now a part of the kernel. Is that wrong? Any advice on how to get KVM working on Mageia (or an explanation why I don't need it :-) )?

Blush... Using qemu-kvm does, of course, resolve the problem.
