There have been several successful attempts to create a base image. Now, when creating a modified image at the --loop stage, this error appears:

If you do not know how to solve it, then at least tell me what it means, please.

I would guess mksquashfs is using too much memory. Check the system log for an out-of-memory message.

Maybe it helps if you would temporarily add some swap up until the amount that draklive2 shows. Do you have ~29GB memory available altogether?

@martinw: Out of curiosity, if I understood the output correctly, is that an uncompressed size of 28507 MB for the content of the squashfs image ?

Thank you all for your attention and concern. Mounting the swap and reducing the size of files for compression solved the problem.

Yes it is. That's a very big live system! The largest Mageia 7 Live ISO (Plasma) is ~10GB uncompressed.
