[SOLVED] Folderview Desktop locked

Postby johngx » Mar 10th, '19, 07:03

My Mageia 6.1 KDE Plasma desktop has locked up.
If I right click the desktop and click lock/unlock, it does not unlock desktop.
The configure desktop menu shows the desktop is in Folder view and can be switched back and forth.
The desktop icons will not start an application and cannot be moved.
Right clicking an icon wont open properties. Creating a new desktop link will not start an application.
Taskbar icons open applications.
Opening Dolphin and double clicking a link in the Desktop directory starts an application.

This happened on rebooting after changing the Toolbar font DPI to 120 dpi (the icons were scrambled).
I have reset the DPI to default, without a fix.
Any help appreciated.

Sounds to me more like your KDE install is borked. You could try to basically reset the KDE settings by moving away or renaming the following files / folders as regular user when you are not logged in to your desktop session

~/.config/plasma-org.kde.plasma.desktop-appletsrc
~/.config/plasmashellrc
~/.config/plasma-workspace/
~/.kde4/

Then login and check if KDE behavior is normal again - although you need to redo most desktop customizations.
