New Kernel Update and Grub!

Hi,

I had this problem with Mandriva 2010.x before, but they seem to have corrected it in Mandriva 2011, which should not have been released as I can see the problems it has, but anyway, back to our problem;

Well, when installing Mageia, it takes about 10 minutes to install the boot-loader, GRUB, and this happened when I updated the kernel yesterday, and just right now when it is updationg the kernel again..

I have two internal hard disks, one Primary IDE, the second is SATA. Then i have the combo card reader.

I wonder why does the system takes so long to install the boot loader, noting that if I go to change the hard disk where to install after that, it does it in two seconds..!

Any idea?

Thanks

Hello,
The worst should be bad sectors in the MBR or the Partition boot Sector. Did you check the disk integrity ?

None of that. The problem is solved, as I mentioned, in Mandriva 2011. Other distros never had that problem neither. Even when I install GRUB myself there is no such a problem! So it is a technique used in Mandriva 2010.x and inherited by Mageia, I guess..
