graphical problems on update

I installed Mageia 5 fresh and then immediately updated it (4.1.15-desktop-2.mga5). After the update I saw this error message during boot:

I suspect this may be related to the following graphical problems:
- touchpad freezes on resume after sleep requiring new login
- some screen flickering
- When I try to set up the graphical server, the test fails and gives me the underrun error above (both when I use the Mageia-proposed settings for the graphical server or try any other setting)

Laptop: Sony Vaio SVE15 series (apparently Intel HD Graphics 4000).

I used Mageia 1 and 4 without these problems. This is my first time posting to the forum....thanks!

Here's the output. Oh, the screen flickering starts after a few minutes of idle state, when it dims to 12%, before going black (on battery).
