[Solved] Adding Mageia client to a windows domain

Postby mithion » Jan 8th, '16, 18:29

I was wondering if anybody has instructions on how to add a Mageia client to a Windows domain running active directory. My own research has revealed winbind to be the best tool to accomplish that and I found in MCC where to configure it. However I've been unsuccessful so far.

The two screenshots posts show the MCC configuration screens. So my questions are as follows:
1) What is the information it is asking on the screen shown in screenshot2.png? Our domain is called "bishopmanogue.org" and that's about the only information I have.

2) Further reasearch revealed some additional information needs to be configured. For example, I set my DNS addresses to point to the IP of our domain controller (see screenshot3.png). And I also changed my hostname to be the one that is consistent with the active directory.
Code: Select all
[philippe@localhost ~]$ cat /etc/hosts
# generated by drakhosts
127.0.0.1 bmstaff53

Is there anything else I need to configure manually outside of MCC to allow this computer to join the domain?

Any help is appreciated.

Clicking continue leads you to this screen, but I'm not sure what information it wants under those three fields.

So I figured it out. I didn't need to mess with the network settings at all. I figured out that the Active Directory Realm and the DNS Domain ended up being the same thing. The DC Server was the hostname of the domain controller. After that, I rebooted and it worked. Now I figure out the printing part.

Glad you got it sorted. Could you edit your topic and prefix the title with [Solved] ? Thanks.
