Problem with HP LaserJet 6P

Postby wka29 » Sep 24th, '11, 13:04

Hello,
printing with HP 6P does not work correctly:

After booting up the system I can print one document correctly.
But it is not possible to print any further document. They stay in the printing queue and will not be printed.
After cleaning the queue and rebooting I again can print only one document.

My system is 64 bit.
The printer is connected to USB port by a Parallel-USB-Cable.

What can be the problem?

Any hint is appreciated very much.

Please post the contents of
Code: Select all
/var/log/cups/error.log
and please in a code-block.
And additionaly, please the output of
Code: Select all
ls /etc/cups/ppd/

In between I had to reinstall the system because I tried to remove cps. I wanted to reinstall cups again. But I had removed to many rpms so that the system was corrutpt.
Now my system is ok. But the printing problem is the same.
Here the contents of error.log:
Code: Select all
E [26/Sep/2011:08:20:16 +0200] [cups-driverd] Bad driver information file "/usr/share/cups/model/foomatic-db-ppds/Kyocera/ReadMe.htm"!

ls /etc/cups/ppd/ delivers:
Code: Select all
Hewlett-Packard-HP-LaserJet-6P.ppd  HP-Photosmart-D5400-series.ppd HP-Deskjet-990c.ppd

The Printer Test Page says as driver name "hp-laserjet__6p.ppd".
I am astonished to see "Kyocera" in the error log file ??

That's not the whole content of /var/log/cups/error.log ? Please post the complete content.

And yes, as you seem to have installed also drivers for Kyocera, but the warning is completely unrelated, you can ignore that.

My feeling is that this has been the full error.log

I show the total error.log as it is at the moment (12:20):
Code: Select all

E [26/Sep/2011:12:08:54 +0200] [Job 7] Stopping unresponsive job!

Hopefully this logfile can help

Another question: should I not get an error message on screen if a job cannot be printed?

I have no Kyocera printer Installed, only 3 HP printer ( 6P, 990cxi & D5460) as shown by 'ls /etc/cups/ppd/' !
