How to select user at boot time ?

Postby vincentm77 » Jul 26th, '17, 13:13

Hi everyone,

is it possible to, AT BOOT TIME (i.e. when selecting th eoperating system to be booted), select the user to be automatically logged in ?

When Grub gives me the option to boot Windows or Mageia, I wish I had the option to boot "Mageia with USER1" or "Mageia with USER2"...

I could set both users with no password, so that a single click enables each user to log in on KDM, but that means that the user has to first choose the right operating system (Mageia, Windows) using Grub, then to click on the right user on KDM.

Thanks
Vincent

Thanks kernow but this is not what I meant.

I want to be able to choose the user to be logged in automatically FROM THE GRUB interface !

Like:

- Option 1: Boot Windows
- Option 2: Boot Mageia with USER1
- Option 3: Boot Mageia with USER2

If by logging in you're talking about in the display manager, no that's not possible - at least not without adding full multiseat support and some kind of external authentication per user via e.g. USB keys or such.
