[SOLVED] Can't mount Windows 10 partition

Postby Tuxus » Aug 21st, '15, 00:43

When I try to mount Windows 10 partition, I get:
Code: Select all
The requested operation has failed: Error mounting system-managed device /dev/sda4: Command-line `mount "/media/windows"' exited with non-zero exit status 14: Windows is hibernated, refused to mount.

I have "Fast Boot" (aka "Fast Startup") disabled as well as Secure Boot , but yet can't access to that partition from Mageia 5.
Needless to say that when I close that damn OS, I select the Power Off option.

Any idea?

It is telling you what the problem is; it won't mount a hibernated partition.

I have done nothing with Win10 at all, so I cannot pretend to know your answer, but if I had to guess, I would guess that "fast boot" hibernates rather than shutting down. Try disabling fast boot, and see if the OS actually shuts down.

Jiml8, It seems that you misread my words.
Let me quote my own post:
I have "Fast Boot" (aka "Fast Startup") disabled as well as Secure Boot

As you can read, I'm telling you what I already tried; and that didn't work.

Seems for whatever reason you still have a hibernation file (hiberfil.sys) on that partition. See e.g. http://askubuntu.com/questions/607098/c ... isabled-in
You can try to disable the hibernate file via
Code: Select all
powercfg /h off
from an administrator prompt, on next reboot the hibernate file should be gone.
