[DISCUSS] "opera: Failed to set up core."

Postby morgano » Feb 21st, '14, 22:59

One day web browser opera did not want to start
Starting it from terminal it just say "opera: Failed to set up core." and quits.
starting it with parametes not to load session etc do not help.
uninstall/reinstall did not help.

Quick web search gave http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-95 ... 687fadcacb

And i did as him, and added user_xattr to / in fstab.
Now opera starts.

To double check i removed that parameter again, and opera still starts...
Probably it just needed that parameter for some file operation, or what?
Should something in mageia defaults be different, or Opera?
Anyone else seen this?
Well now as it is posted here it is easier to find if someone else encounters it.

BTW,
while opera runs from terminal i see it fail checking for update:
/usr/lib64/opera/opera_autoupdatechecker: /lib64/libcurl.so.4ble (required by /usr/lib64/opera/opera_autoupdatechecker)
While that is an error, i think it is good as is, and updates should come by mageia updates.
