Losing Desktop Settings. 2nd Time

Postby aussiejohn » Feb 4th, '14, 07:16

Mageia-3 with all current updates. I have mmultiple desktops with different settings such as Luna, Yawp, Solar and other Plasmoids plus different backgrounds.
Everything normal Yesterday including shutdown but starting up again this morning all the desktops were black background and no plasmoids present. i.e. each desktop was blank.
I had the same occurance about 3 weeks ago and could find no explanation so labourisly set up everything again because I couldn't find where the settings file might be and thought it might be just a one off experience.
Has anyone else had similar experience ?. Where might the file be located so I can see if the original file has been over written or just made old ?. If the latter then I know how to reverse that situation. If the former then it means setting up all over again. Any ideas on a possible cause. Thanks in advance. John.

P.S. Installed Mageia-4-rc on a second computer and seems pretty solid. Australian mirrors don't have final up yet.

The settings are all located under ~/.kde4/share/config/ and for some KDE applications also under ~/.kde4/share/apps/.
Your desktop and plasmoid settings should all be in ~/.kde4/share/config/plasma-desktop-appletsrc

What desktop mode do you use (folderview, default workspace ...) and what do you have set in systemsettings -> startup and shutdown -> session management?
