How to configure Slim display manager on Mageia 3 ?

Postby Dupo » Oct 23rd, '13, 00:39

Hi everybody,

someone can tell how to configure Slim on Mageia 3 ?

I can't connect to my session (I use unofficial Mageia 3 Mate version) under Slim. I haven't got no problem with Gdm and (unofficial) Mageia 3 Mate version, but I want to use Slim display manager. I know I must configure /etc/slim.conf. But, when Slim tries to launch my mate session, I've got a terminal Window. If I launch mate-session under that terminal window, there is no problem, mate session is launched.

Thanks.

I am not using SLiM in Mageia KDE, but I do use it with Arch Linux XFCE.

Here are the files I use with Arch.

Hi,

thanks. I will look it later.

Arch guys talked of a ~/xinitrc file, but under Mageia 3, I don't find this file in my home folder. It is only available in /etc/X11/xinit.
I modified this file in /etc/X11/xinit, but nothing changes. I've got that terminal window. :(

More info on /home/~.xinitrc

https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/xinitrc

I would try creating the file in /home/~ and then reboot and see how it goes. I can't guarantee that Mageia will handle it the same way Arch does, but it would be worth a try.

~/.xinitrc is handled in all distributions the same, at least those who use a classic X server or are concerned a littel bit about compatibility. Check https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/xinitrc
