Remote x-server with ssh -X

Postby mackowiakp » Jul 6th, '13, 10:15

I use M3 based PC as a home server (NAS, Twonky, Zoneminder etc). This computer is configured to do not start any graphic on own screen, including even boosplash. I want to initiate (over ssh) full X session on other computer screen for particular user on my "server", without starting X on one.
So I install on server x11-server-Xephyr and on other computer run such command:

Code: Select all
ssh -p 666 -X -i /home/maciek/.ssh/id_rsa media@media Xephyr :1 -query localhost

But only clack window i got
I use 666 port for ssh and commands like:

Code: Select all
ssh -p 666 -i /home/maciek/.ssh/id_rsa root@media env LANG=pl_PL.UTF-8 /bin/drakconf

works properly.
Any idea how to start remote X session?
Linux is like wigwam. No Windows, no Gates but Apache inside

Could it be that remote X connections a disabled by default with Msec. It would need to be enabled I would have thought.

ssh in normally and check
Code: Select all
mcc >> security >> Config system security
. , might work :? Check that your firewall ain't blocking it also.

Well, also the obvious xhost/xauth enablement, and maybe you need to tell your login manager to accept all incoming tcp connections. It's the case for KDM, if I remember correctly ...
