[SOLVED] Kernel 3.4.24: WLAN stopped working

Postby htgoebel » Jan 26th, '13, 16:31

Hi,

I'm running Mageia 2. When updating the Kernel 3.4.24, the WLAN stopped working.

It keeps setting the regulatory domain on and on. /var/log/messages contains lots of these entries, one after each other. DHCP does not get a chance fetching an IP-address and thus comminication is not possible,
Code: Select all
kernel: [  155.897029] cfg80211: Calling CRDA to update world regulatory domain
kernel: [  155.933630] cfg80211: World regulatory domain updated:
kernel: [  155.933636] cfg80211:   (start_freq - end_freq @ bandwidth), (max_antenna_gain, max_eirp)
kernel: [  155.933643] cfg80211:   (2402000 KHz - 2472000 KHz @ 40000 KHz), (300 mBi, 2000 mBm)
kernel: [  155.933649] cfg80211:   (2457000 KHz - 2482000 KHz @ 20000 KHz), (300 mBi, 2000 mBm)
kernel: [  155.933654] cfg80211:   (2474000 KHz - 2494000 KHz @ 20000 KHz), (300 mBi, 2000 mBm)
kernel: [  155.933660] cfg80211:   (5170000 KHz - 5250000 KHz @ 40000 KHz), (300 mBi, 2000 mBm)
kernel: [  155.933665] cfg80211:   (5735000 KHz - 5835000 KHz @ 40000 KHz), (300 mBi, 2000 mBm)

A (mostly) complete logfile (network-stuff only) can be found at http://pastebin.com/dReYL1ug

The solution is weird, but simple: This always happens if the WLAN-keys is invalid. Argl! I did not discover this, as it not only happened at a WLAN I used to have the key (but has changes meanwhile), but also at my home-WLAN.

It's a bit sad that drakroam does not log a meaningful message, so the other log messages could fool me.
