Samba ver 3 or 4 to use vfs_acl_xattr

Has anyone got an opinion about whether I would be better off using should be using Samba 3 or Samba 4. Problem is I keep reading that Samba 4 is experimental and should not be used yet.

I am trying to setup a Windows share with Full ACL support. From what I have read and from my own experimentation I should be using vfs_acl_xattr to do this. Just not working too well on Samba 3 so I am thinking of ditching that and trying Samba 4. First question is does Mageia 2 actually support Samba 4.

For one, Samba 4 is not experimental anymore, it was officially released recently: http://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Samba4
For the other question, Samba 4 is not packaged yet, as there are soe huge changes, and even if it will be, existing tools
for Samba configuration (e.g. MCC) will need to be adapted, which will need additional time.

Thanks for the info doktor5000. I can live without the MCC tools and just setup manually from the text config files, my bigger problem is that it hasn't been packaged for Mageia yet. I guess there is probably not much experience out there of using Samba 4 with Windows ACLs yet then.

There is, from what i've read so far, as some servers (like e.g. Univention ) are already running with Samba 4 and even contributed to it,
there's already quite some experience. But probably not here ...
