[SOLVED] vmmon not found

Postby janpihlgren » Aug 23rd, '12, 17:18

Today when I have uppdated to the kernel (3.3.8-desktop) Then I tried to start VmwareVorkstation (8.0.4) I get the following error:
You must install vmmon module
When I the run the following kommand:
insmod vmmon as root.
I get the following message:
can't find vmmon.
Does anyone knows where the module is located or where it can be downloaded?

After installation of kernel 3.3.8 booting up was taking a very long time.
In the end VMware 8.0.4 was starting properly on my notebook.

I suppose you have the following patch installed?
http://communities.vmware.com/message/2017946
vmware802fixlinux320.tar.gz

I would suggest to uninstall VMware and install again.
/usr/bin/vmware-uninstall

@bertaerts
For some unknown reason the problem solved it self. Yes I have the patch installed.
I suppose that the slow start may get the problem.
Thanks for idea of reinstall VMware. I'll try to remeber that if the problem return.
