Bluedevil bluetooth audio

Postby zeke » Aug 24th, '12, 03:32

I am trying to connect to a bluetooth audio device. This one:

ID 0a12:0001 Cambridge Silicon Radio, Ltd Bluetooth Dongle (HCI mode)

Bluedeveil sees the adapter. I can scan and find the device and Bluedevil thinks it is a headset device. I can pair with it.

The problem occurs when I try to connect to it.
If I try to connect as headset service, nothing happens for a while, then I get a system notification that the audio service connection timed out.
If I try to connect as an audio sink, the bluedevil icon changes (little flag appears on the bluetooth symbol). Then after about 20-sec the system becomes completely unresponsive and I have to do a hard reboot.

Hoping for some help with this.

Thanks!

Edit:

Made some progress....
Opened PulseAudio control and turned HDMI output off
Turned Analog Audio output on
Set GG-Bluegate to A2DP

Now I see ALSA playback happening, and the output device shows sound happening (blue bars on each tab are moving) but I am getting no sound from the device.

Edit Edit:
It seems like the problem may be that the adapter is set as a headset in the profile. I can't find any information on how to change the adapter profile to audio sink under bluedevil.

With which program and how exactly do you try to connect?

I sort of have it working now. It seems like I have to turn the BT device off before I reboot, and only after the computer is completely restarted, can I turn on the BT device and reconnect with Bluedevil.

Even so, it is hit or miss. Sometimes I have to do this several times to get the audio to play with A2DP, and other times the computer becomes completely unresponsive and I have to do a hard shutdown.

I am useing Firefox and xbmc to play audio. But the unresponsiveness happens a few seconds after I turn the BT device on to A2DP using PulseAudio, before I can even spawn either of the audio programs.
