I have a Radeon HD Mobility 4250. Easiest way to get everything is the following:
1- Open rpmdrak
2- Options => Media Sources
3- Add the non-free & tainted repos (Can't remember which one is needed)
4- Search for fglrx
5- Install (During the install fglrx will be installed on the active kernel via depmod.
6- Open MCC
7- Open display module
8- Proceed as normal, but when MCC asks if you wish to use non-free drivers be sure to say yes.
*NOTE: If the mentioned repos are already enabled I believe MCC will d/l & install the necessary software automaticaly.
Once installed fglrx works great, at least with my Radeon. After a reboot etc, you can start using composite functions or install compiz etc.
