I also tried putting the iso on a USB Stick using dd, and it won't boot at all...
isolinux.bin missing or corrupt.
error: no such partition
The md5sum checks out.

Thanks! That's got it. It booted with xdriver=fglrx which is really odd, as I thot the box had intel, but it didn't work with intel. Seems like it may have ATI.
