Mageia 2 does not work on HP 550

Hi Mageians!

I have tried to boot the Mageia 2 live CD on HP 550. The process seems to work great until suddenly when I am supposed to choose my language, I suppose, the screen goes blan. The keyboard won't respond and all I can do is force a shutdown. I then tried to plug in a disk with Mageia 2 x64 installed on it on a Packard Bell MZ35, for which I had already opened a thread that it does not work with linux unless it is Ubuntu 9.04! So I got that disk from Packard Bell with the unfunctional Mageia 2 installed, plugged it in the HP 550, booted the Mageia 2 x64 install DVD, chose upgrade so that I reach the stage where I can redefine the hardware. In the summary screen I made sure the VGA card is properly configured, the sound card and the rest. I then tried to reboot but the same thing happens..

It reaches the point where I should be able to log in using my account and the screen goes blank besides a total unresposiveness..!

Is it that newer Linux version ignore somewhat older hardware?!!

The hard-to-read attched file shows the result of the ls* commands when I booted Mandrive Live 2010 on the HP 550.

Thanks in advance.

PS. Mandriva works fine on the same machine!

Hope this could help
