Does anyone have lib64rtmp-2.4 built? Apparently it is needed in order to stream amazon prime and hulu in XBMC.

There is a version built from git for Fedora, but all I can find in the mga repos is v2.3.5

I tried the fedora rpm, but it fails on a glibc dependency

Where does it state you need librtmp-2.4 in order to stream amazon prime and hulu in XBMC?
What error do you get when you try with 2.3.5?

The latest release is 2.4 which you can check out from git. Aside from various minor bugfixes since 2.3, RTMPE type 9 handshakes are now supported.

As the cauldron package hasn't been updated to 2.4 because there was no stable release of it yet,
your only option is to do a git checkout from rtmpdump and compile and install it yourself.

Have you already done something like that before?

Well, you only do the download via git, nothing difficult. So it should go like this:

Code: Select all: # urpmi zlib-devel openssl-devel <<-- install required development headers to compile against (as root, denoted by the #)

Code: Select all: $ git clone git://git.ffmpeg.org/rtmpdump <<-- download latest rtmpdump source

Code: Select all: $ cd rtmpdump $ make # make install

That should install all of it below /usr/local, you just need to create symlinks for your newly installed
librtmp into /usr and remove the old one via package management. That should do it.

Thanks doktor5000,

I got as far as linking the files in /usr/local to their respective places in /usr/bin, and uninstalled all rtmp libs, but it failed on lib64rtmp0. It wanted to remove a long list of programs, incl. xbmc and vlc.

I tried to stream hulu and it failed with the same error.
I am wondering if the lib64rtmp0 is causing a conflict?

I suppose I could depricate to the 32-bit OS instead?

Well, you should know what you want to do currently, in an abstracted manner. xbmc, vlc and such is linked to the 2.3.5 librtmp from the repositories,
which is still installed at your box. Now you want to trick the system to think that it uses that one, but in reality it will use your newly compiled one.
So you'd need to rename the existing librtmp0 files, and put symlinks to your newly compiled ones below /usr/local in place for the files you've renamed.

No clue what you're talking about/asking here. If you mean switching to a 32bit Mageia installation, that would change nothing.

OK, I think I understand what you suggested....so I renamed /usr/lib64/librtmp.so.0 and then did
# ln -s /usr/local/lib/librtmp.so.0 /usr/lib64/librtmp.so.0

Confirmed the dynamic link was in place. XBMC crashed at startup, from the command line, I got this:

/usr/lib64/xbmc/xbmc.bin: error while loading shared libraries: librtmp.so.0: cannot open shared object file: Error 40

What about the permissions of the new library? Are they the same as the old one?
And you should not only do this for librtmp.so.0 but for all the libraries which got installed by librtmp2.4.

Output seems wrong, it should display the path also. Here's an example, from start to finish:

OK, that got me to the answer.

I was not enumerating the full path to the linked file, just the name from within the /usr/local dir

Once I did ln -s /usr/local/lib/librtmp.so.0 /usr/lib64/

it worked!

Sorry, just came across this doing a re-install.

Yes, XBMC works with librtmp2.4 installed as described.

Hulu streams with no problems. I don't have a Amazon Prime account, so I am not sure about that.

Thanks Doktor....I suppose I will go ahead and upgrade to Cauldron for my reinstall. This is my HTPC, so the stakes are low :mrgreen:

However there is something strange: Both this 2.4 version and the 2.3.x currently in mga1 repos do not recognise the swfVfy option!

( Being on mga1, i got the src.rpm, rebuilt, and installed:

When did you take the git snapshot? The one in cauldron is from december 28, last year.
But i can take a look into updating it once again when Beta1 was released, so likely tomorrow

But the git version works for me, and yours work in cauldron so all is fine in the end
