i had two user accounts on mag4, each one with a passhrase
now i've made a fresh install of mag5, not an update of mag4.
the two previous accounts are still there , and i have access to it whithout any password with dolphin.

When you installed Mageia 5, you must have kept your existing /home partition.

The two original users' home directories are accessible, because during installation Mageia creates the home directories of users as readable by anyone.

There is an open bug on this: https://bugs.mageia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=618

i can't remember me filling anywhere that i wanted to keep the previous partition: precisely i wanted to make it brand new.
i've only kept the same root passphrase everytime ...
if needed, i could make a thirth install of mag5 (made two already :) ) to make sure ...

the three user accounts only show in dolphin, not on the login server
i have no full access to everything , but i can copy whatec=veere i want to my new account & have access there.
i'm reding the bug report atm.

What you are calling old "user accounts" are simply directories. If they do not contain any data that you want to retain, they can be deleted. "Users" on the system are those new users that you have defined. They can be managed in MCC - System - Manage Users.

If you still want to delete them, please provide the output of the following commands as your normal user
Code: Select all
id
ls -al /home

Otherwise please mark the thread accordingly by editing the topic of the first post and prefix it by [SOLVED], thanks

well well well
a simple
Code: Select all
rm -drf ex_user2_directory

logged as root has solved user2's ex-account presence

now i'm not, me, myself, gonna put a [SOLVED] to a topic that is still OPENED in bugzilla itself, under
Priority: High Severity: critical
flags.
whatever serious these flags are.
i'm a noob after all.

You should update your bugzilla-report, and close this topic.

You should mark this topic in the Forum as [SOLVED] or, if you prefer [DONE]. This is solely to let other forum users know that you no longer need help with this issue. It is unrelated to the status of the bug report.

The Bug report (https://bugs.mageia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=618) should be left open, because the underlying issue has not yet been resolved.

@isadora: The bugreport that Jim referred to has been a longstanding bug, but it was not reported by the OP.

edit doktor5000: seems Jim was faster with the explanation :)

let's say it that way:
you're all saying to me that if, now, i make a neu install of Mageia5, all the user accounts that were present in the previous install will now be locked, or not present, and so the topic now shows no interest, right?
i'm glad to hear it.
i'll send flowers to you all so glad i am.

We're saying that what you see is the result of the permissions of the folders. If you don't like that, you either need to change the permissions. Or as you did, delete the folder.
We cannot magically fix that bugreport linked above. And there's no need for flowers.

Just mark the thread accordingly by editing the topic of the first post and prefix it by [DONE] please.
