[SOLVED] google-chrome fails in Mageia 5

Postby griffin » Jun 30th, '15, 18:34

Code: Select all
/etc/cron.daily/google-chrome:
Unable to get Terminal Size. The TIOCGWINSZ ioctl didn't work. The COLUMNS and LINES environment variables didn't work. The resize program didn't work. The stty program didn't work. at /usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl/5.20.1/x86_64-linux-thread-multi/Term/ReadKey.pm line 451.

The problem appears to be related to GNOME: https://bugs.mageia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=14430 . The resolution suggested there is to run gdm, though why I'd have to do that just to be able to check for chrome updates escapes me. Can I fix this by simply installing task-gnome, or is there perhaps another, less painful way to get around this?

You don't need that file to get chrome updates. If you don't already have the chrome repo's set up, see the MAQeia on setting up the chrome repo's:
viewtopic.php?f=36&t=3101

Once you've done that, you'll receive updates for chrome in the same way as Mageia updates, through mageia-online.

The problem with /etc/cron.daily/google-chrome affects other cron scripts and appears to be caused by a perl module
