How come belnet mirror is not in sync ?

Postby yoho » Jun 23rd, '15, 09:38

Hello magicians,

If you check the following path on the belnet mirror, you will see MD5SUM file content does not correspond to the directory content.

http://ftp.belnet.be/mageia/distrib/5/x ... edia_info/

However, if you check the "last modified" date of all of these files, they have been updated at the same time. Even more surprising is the fact that MD5SUM content refers to synthesis files from 22/06/2015 although it has been last modified on the 13/06/2015...

I have 2 questions actually:
1) Why is that ?
2) Because of this, my update to MGA5 fails. Is there any way to force mgaapplet to choose another mirror ?

Well, although it's a very good document, it doesn't talk about the upgrade process from mga4 to mga5.

The recommended way is to use mgaapplet (process checking for updates and displaying the icon or dialog box in your desktop environment) but as I mention, it fails because it's unable to check MD5SUM of the automatically chosen (based on your location) mirror for me which is "belnet". I can't find a way to override the automatic choice of the mirror.

I've just done the upgrade from mageia 4 to 5 using the command line.

The instructions for doing can be found by selecting the link to upgrade from 4 about half the way down (on the right) the download page.

To select the mirror nearest to you, or the one which suits you, go to https://mirrors.mageia.org/report and with the command line upgrade type/insert the address when you come to the relevant command line instruction.
