Hardware problems

Hi everyone,
Since I newly installed Mageia 1.0 (and loving it!), I am not able to use my mousepad, even though I have tried modifying settings on the GUI System Settings to no avail. I have to use my USB mouse instead. -Also, I cannot modify screen brightness.
Any suggestions?

I am using an ACER Extensa 5635Z laptop, 32-bit.

Have you tried whether any of this helps:

In MCC, you can choose Hardware and then:

* Set up the keyboard layout - choose: Keyboard type: there are several acers, maybe one of the others is better?
* Set up the pointer device (mouse, touchpad) - maybe playing around here you find what works?

Don't forget to mark what settings you have before doing this
