I'm prettty sure that this is not the right place to raise this, but my knowledge does not run to doing it anywhere else.
I'm attempting to install Zoneminder in a recently install Mga5 RC setup. This is a full install, not an upgrade.
On trying to install Zoneminder, after the information that a whole slew of additional packages will be installed, which is normal. I get a box saying that "Sorry, the following package cannot be installed zoneminder.1.28.0-2.33f3612.mga5.i586" Apparently because of conflicts with Per-Device SerialPort-1.40.0-11.mga5.i586

Could you please post the actual complete output, and include the repos you have currently configured?

Code: Select all
urpmi zoneminder
urpmq --list-media active --list-url

FWIW installation works fine here:

Code: Select all

More information on package zoneminder-1.28.0-2.33f3612.mga5.x86_64

ZoneMinder is now installed.
Mageia has included a script to simplify setup.
It will help you to create a mysql root password, a new ZoneMinder
mysql database, or update from a previously installed version.
It will then start Mysql, Apache and ZoneMinder on completion.

To use it enter the following commands in a terminal:-

su

zmsetup

NOTE: After updating ZoneMinder to a new version always re-run zmsetup
and select to re-use your existing database. This will allow you
to update the database to be compatible with the newly installed
version of ZoneMinder, while keeping your existing events and
settings.

NOTE: MariaDB is installed without root password, it is recommended to set the
root password with the following command as soon as possible:

   mysqladmin password

The initscript used to start mysql has been reverted to use the one shipped
by MariaDB. This means the following changes:

 * The generation of the initial system mysql database is now done when mysql
is started from the initscript and only if the /var/lib/mysql/mysql
directory is empty (mysql_install_db). Previousely this was quite hidden and
silently done at (rpm) install time. As a consequence to this change you may
have to perform some manual tasks to upgrade the mysql system database and
such. So, doing something like this might help you:

   systemctl stop mysqld.service
   TMPDIR=/var/tmp mysql_install_db
   mysql_upgrade --skip-write-binlog

The cluster functionalities (ndb) has been deactivated and will be removed in
future mysql versions. Oracle has a new product named mysql-cluster that
replaces the cluster functionalities.

The mysql-common-core package ships with a default /etc/my.cnf file that is
based on the my-medium.cnf file that comes with the source code.

I might let this thread hang for a while. The install that I raised the issue, now, prior to using the seems to have further problems. On doing an updateprior to carrying out your suggestion, I found that it failed with an error that it was unable to update the x86-64 kernal because of a conflict with the i586 kernel. I'll rebuild the machine to see whether this will provide a cure.

FWIW, I, too have installed Zoneminder on another machine (Lenovo Thinkpad) but this machine was only updated to Mga5, whereas the netbook was a new install. It too had been updated, but I found that the root partition had swelled from about 4.5 Gb to 11 plus, in the process. It was something I only found out about when I came to update this, when the machine indicated that there was no room on the disk for the update. A new install, with the same set of programs came to 4.5Gb. Zoneminder on the Thinkpad works fine, BTW

Well, the machine has been re-built. Several times, in fact. But is now working satisfactorily in Mga5. And with the new build, the problem has gone. Zoneeminder has installed without problems. So, the problem is solved, and must have been a problem with the original build. and I shall close the query
